How to decide where "white space" goes?

Not sure how you would do tutorials on those though - seems that it might be too difficult.

Actually those sound pretty interesting---I'm not sure how I'd explain white spaces---like negative space? But skin tones might not be too hard.....

The white/negative space I think is my largest obstacle with watercolors. I'm not good with the negative space thing at all - I'm way too linear and not remotely spatial in my thinking for 2D art.

You know, I think one of the things that started helping me see negative space is the inking method I use. I only ink the general outlines, so pretty much everything is grouped into shapes. I used to like drawing linear things with a fat highlighter and then outlining all the little silhouettes with a ball point pen, so that none of the outlines cross eachother. Some really interesting shapes come from that....

Maybe do some "work in progress" tutorials?

You know, show the sketch then show the sketch on the canvas, and then show each step of the process?

Yes, I reckon it is time for me to do another of those...... my acrylic tutorial is like that but it was done awhile ago. I'm sure my methods have changed since!
